Choosing

Compact or large head: which fabric shaver fits your closet

We make two shavers because pilling happens at two scales. Here is how we would decide.

Fabric shaver mesh and six-leaf blade

Start with the largest thing that pills

If it is a sweater, the compact covers it. If it is a blanket, a coat or a couch, the 65mm head of the large model will save you real time. People with both kinds of fabric often keep one of each.

Think about where you will use it

The compact runs on batteries, so it works in a hallway, a car or a hotel room, and switches to a 6 ft AC cord at home. It is 5.75 inches tall and 2.6 wide. The large head is 5.7 by 3.34 by 5.31 inches and feels more like an iron in the hand: steady and meant for a table.

Look at the cutting side

The compact has a honeycomb face with three hole sizes and a cover you can raise or lower, plus two spare blades. The large head has six stainless steel blade leaves behind a protective mesh, and ships with replacement blades.

Then choose a color

It sounds trivial and it is not. A shaver in a color you notice gets used; one that matches the drawer gets forgotten. The compact comes in seven finishes and the large head in six.
